Queer Postgrads Network 
Hey all!
I’m Peter – the new ‘Queer Officer’ in SUPRA’s equity team. If you are (or anyone you know is) gay, lesbian, transgender, intersex … or just plain old straight with the occasional bend here and there – then, you should probably read on. If you are also a post-graduate student, then you should definitely read on.
As I’m new here, I suppose a few words about myself are in order. I’m a graduate in History, Philosophy and Law (BA, LLB Hons) from this great institution. Currently, I’m undertaking the M/Teach program in secondary ed. As a one-time Peer Education Officer with ACON, I’m experienced in facilitating queer groups and social events. But as a past President of the UWS Law Society, I’ve also been involved in a broader social and political agenda, organising social get-togethers, film nights, and seminars … with some pretty amazing guest speakers.
Since taking office, earlier this month, I joined with three other post-grad reps to attend the Queer Collaborations conference at Melbourne Uni. This was a unique opportunity to network with queer students, equity officers, reps and other friends from Australia, NZ and the region.
One of the things I’d like to do is organise a space where queer post-grads and friends can get together on a regular basis. We’ll start with a film/social night early in the new semester … watch this space!
